Soviet Memorial in Treptower Park

This tour takes you through the Soviet Memorial in Treptower Park.


After World War II was over, the Red Army erected four large memorials in Berlin for its soldiers who died in the “Battle of Berlin”. Let’s take a closer look at one of them.

The memorial in Treptow was inaugurated in 1949 and around 7000 Soviet soldiers found their final resting place here. We look at the history, architecture and significance of the memorial.

The meeting point for this tour is the statue of “Mother Homeland” at the Soviet Memorial in Treptower Park. An alternative meeting point can also be arranged and we will then travel together to the memorial. Please note that in this case the total duration of the tour will be longer and you will require a public transport ticket for all participants; this is NOT included in the price.

From Humboldt to Alex

This tour starts at Humboldt University and takes you to the heart of former East Berlin – the Alexanderplatz, or, as Berliners affectionately call it: Alex.

Our walk takes us past the Humboldt Forum, where the Berlin City Palace once stood, as well as the former “Palace of the Republic”. We continue to the Red Town Hall and through the Nikolai Quarter to the landmark of former East Berlin, the TV tower. The tour ends at the “Alex”.

Potsdam

On this day trip we will explore the former residence of the Prussian kings together. An important garrison town in the 18th century, Frederick the Great had a summer residence built here from 1745, which he named “Sanssouci”. We will also explain why there are potatoes as well as flowers on Frederick’s grave.

Severely damaged by Allied bombing raids during World War II, Potsdam lost its direct connection to West Berlin in August 1961 when the Berlin Wall was built. The Glienicke Bridge became a symbol of division and the exchange of agents.

Discover with us beautiful Potsdam with its more than 1000 years of exciting and varied history. We will visit the Glienicke Bridge, Cecilienhof Palace, the Dutch Quarter, the Brandenburg Gate (yes, Potsdam has one too) and, of course, Sanssouci Palace and Park.

Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial

Sachsenhausen

The Sachsenhausen concentration camp memorial is located approximately 30 kilometres north of Berlin. This concentration camp was built in 1936 and served as a model and training camp for later concentration camps. After World War II, a Soviet special camp was located there from 1945 to 1950.

This tour is a day trip and takes  about 6 hours. We will travel together by S-Bahn from Brandenburger Tor to Oranienburg (approx. 50 minutes). From there we will walk to the memorial site (approx. 20 – 25 minutes). Please note that this route must also be walked back at the end of the tour. The guided tour of the memorial takes approx. 2.5 to 3 hours and also involves a lot of walking. Please make sure that you are up to it.

All participants require a public transport ticket for this tour; this is NOT included in the price. We are happy to help with the selection.

If you as a group have a bus, we will of course be happy to accompany you in your own bus.

Please bring your own food and drinks. There are no catering facilities at the memorial.

This tour offers a good overview of the exciting history of the metropolis of Berlin.

We start at the Brandenburg Gate and pass the Holocaust Memorial and the Federal Ministry of Finance (find out what's so interesting about it). We take a look at a piece of the original Berlin Wall and look at the history of this structure and the fates associated with it. In this context, of course, the famous Checkpoint Charlie is not to be missed. The tour is rounded off by the Gendarmenmarkt with its Prussian history.
